A 12 × 12 ft room is 144 ft². Add 10% for cuts and mistakes to get 158 ft². With boxes that cover 20 ft² each you need 8 boxes; with 22 ft² boxes, 8. For a diagonal or herringbone layout add 15% instead, which means 9 boxes of 20 ft².

- Floor area: 12 × 12 = 144 ft²
- Add 10% spare: 144 × 1.10 = 158 ft²
