How many wallpaper panels for a 12 ft wall?

The short answer
A 12 ft wide, 8 ft tall wall printed on a 42 inch roll needs 4 panels, allowing 2 inches extra on each side and a ¾ inch overlap between panels. Each panel is 42 inches wide and about 8′ 3⅞″ long. On a 54 inch roll it takes 3 panels. At 150 pixels per inch a 42 inch panel is 6,300 × 14,991 pixels.
How it is worked out
- Wall width plus 2″ trim each side, minus one ¾″ overlap
- Divide by the useful panel width: 42″ − ¾″
- Round up: 4 panels, each 8′ 3⅞″ long
